Mandragore

As a mythical creature, the Mandrake is often depicted as an anthropomorphic plant on the threshold of the animal kingdom. Mentioned by Pythagoras, Pliny, William Shakespeare, and Jorge Luis Borges, this plant with feminine forms induces hallucinations and dizziness in those unfortunate enough to attempt uprooting it. Fascinated by this legend, Pistrice translated its essence through seductive feminine figures rendered in bold, vibrant colors.

The Riso print illustration were made by il Pistrice in artistic residency at the Inuit sudio in Bologna (Italie).

Originals and limited edition prints are available at the SLOW galerie – Paris.
